On a recent trip to Grand Canaria, I had an opportunity to view a section of the southern sky not visible from Ireland's more northern latitude. One of my targets, using my trusty SeeStar S50 was M83, The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy. Now M83 is visible from Ireland but usually very low in the sky and I have never managed to image it but in Gran Canaria it was relatively high in a very clear sky, although my old pal the Moon did diminish the dark sky somewhat!!(Click Image To Enlarge)
